My little lad, who turned one last week, was lucky enough to be sent a very cool birthday suit by designer kids’ wear firm Angel and Rocket.
I’ve never really spoken about my quest for original clothing for small boys, mostly because others have said it better, but, blimey, clothes for boys are hard work. If I see another navy stripe, truck top or dinosaur vest, I’ll go bonkers.
Angel and Rocket provide some great, unique alternatives. We were sent the Atticus paint splat joggers and sweater. They are so brilliantly colourful and, to be honest, very Bristol. I wanted to photograph him wearing them nearest our coolest street art, but, you know one year olds, it wasn’t happening.
We did go to the brand new cafe for parents and little kids, the Milk Shed, on North Street, to celebrate his birthday, though. And here he is enjoying some incredible vegan chocolate cake with his sister. He’s vegan because of egg and dairy allergies.
The Atticus outfit is delicious. Quality wise, I love the detail – the orange ribbon tie on the joggers, and the pockets on the back are the cutest. The pieces have been washed several times and have survived a hot wash and tumble dry well.
I think the black and bright splats work really well, and to be honest, they hide the odd food splat too!
If you sign up to Angel and Rocket’s newsletter, you get 20% off your first order. Well worth doing for such a premium designer brand. I’ve got my eye on this Bodhi sweater for next time.
