your next shop | Baby & Co, Keynsham

I think we Bristolians pride ourselves on shopping local and independently where we can. I remember when I was first pregnant, when we lived in London, and everybody I spoke to recommended two places to go for gear – one family business which was based in the middle of a golf course, and had a tack shop on the side of it, and good old John Lewis.

I chose the family business, and it was there that we spent hours test driving buggies, trying out car seats, and choosing cot bumpers. Happy memories, it’s so much nicer, shopping for such important things, when you can share the experience with an enthusiastic shop owner or assistant.

If you didn’t know (and I didn’t, until recently), we have one of those wonderful, independent baby shops here, in Keynsham. Baby & Co is celebrating a whopping 35 years of trading this year, and the owners Jeff and Claire are putting on a real celebration for customers old and new, where you can save some serious, serious pre-natal pounds. The event has started, on October 2nd, so, quick!

Have a look at the Baby & Co 35 year anniversary site for more details, but, here’s some examples:

  • A free car seat if you are buying any Uppababy or Buggaboo (with trade-up options)
  • 10% of Ergo carriers (and we all know how much of an investment new ones are!)
  • 10% off Silver Cross furniture and a free car seat with their core-range prams

There’s free delivery on orders over £49, there’s click and collect if you just want to get in and get out, and, if you like Baby & Co on Facebook, there’s also a discount.

There’s also a massive prize draw every week of the anniversary month, with some really cool prizes, such as a Limited Edition Maclaren worth £450, plus general flash giveaways of lovely gifts like Steiff bears and Maclaren pamper sets.

It’s so worth using a local business for these essential items. I’ve finally given up hope with my Baby Jogger, which has died a terrible death involving a sheared axle after four years of hard graft, and Jeff has given me such good advice on a replacement. Although I must admit, I am still going Baby Jogger City Mini GT, it’s my top tip to anybody who asks, great machine, fold with one hand, can take on Leigh Woods mud, Totterdown Hills and multiple plane journeys unscathed.

Happy baby shopping, especially to those of you doing it for the first time, it’s such a great experience!

ps – just before I pressed publish I looked at Baby & Co’s ex display and clearance link – serious bargains, make sure you look!
