Bear with me. I know us mums are supposed to be all about wine o’clock, gin and on it, prosecco taps and vodka in the handbag (oops, just me?). However.
Sometimes, don’t you just want a nice, cold BEER?
I used to sit at work pre-kids, DREAMING of one of those beers where the cold drops are dribbling down the outside. That first sip in that beer garden. Yes. That’s the badger!
Luckily for all of us, the Bristol Craft Beer festival is next weekend, 15-17th September. If you are planning an escape from your children for a few hours, this is the place for you. You pay for your tickets, and then you get to sample over 200 beers from 30 breweries, from your own special glass (and not the kind of special vessel your kid freaks out over either). No tokens, no nothing. Just pay once, choose your beer and go all afternoon/evening. Unless you’re Geordie Shore level wasted, then you’ll probably be sent away.
Even better, is that each night and day session has a special DJ. We’re going on the Friday night, to hear him off of Bombay Bicycle Club. But Saturday is DJ Yoda, and Sunday is the actual real Norman Jay MBE.
There’s also some next-level street food by Salt N Malt, Josh Eggleton and Rude Boy hotdogs, to name a few. You do pay for your food though.
So, essentially, it’s really brilliant value, especially if you enjoy beers from places like Wiper and True, Brewdog, Verdant, Good Chemistry, The Wild Beer Co and Bristol Beer Factory. If you’ve got a special craft beer fiend in your life, this is the birthday present or early Christmas present of dreams.
You can buy your tickets here.
